OCTOBER PROGRAM --
Celia Benzel will present "The Psychology of Quilting - Color & Therapeutic Value" at the October general meeting. Why do you choose the colors you do? What colors do you try to stay away from? You might find out something about yourself you didn't realize.
Celia started quilting at 17 with her grandmother and learned how to use cardboard templates and scissors. Celia attended Eastern Washington University and graduated with a BA in Sociology with an Art minor. She went on to graduate from Gonzaga University with a Masters in Psychology. Upon graduation she practiced as a Marriage and Family therapist until she opened her quilt shop in 1993 called the "Garden Gate Quilt Shop" located in Ritzville which she later moved to Cheney. She sold the shop in 2008 and is now a realtor. She has been a long arm quilter for 12 years. She says, "Quilting continues to be my personal therapy". A lot of us can relate to that.
Featured Shop --
Our featured shop this month is Regal Fabrics & Gifts at 5620 S Regal, Suite #8. The hours are 9-6pm MTWFS and TH 9-8:30pm. Their website is www.regalfabricsandgifts.com. They just opened in August. They have been showing off the SVQG raffle quilt for us and allowed us to sell raffle tickets in the shop.
